The two main visual elements of this cartoon are the outline of Africa and the big old footprint over it. I think this cartoon is meant to symbolize how Africa has been treated, for example it looks like the Europeans came in and trampled and ruined Africa. The land under the boot print looks all infertile and cracked, just like Africa's economy and environment after the Europeans colonized most of Africa. it looks like the cartoonist feels that the Europeans "stepped all over Africa" and damaged it. He most likely has a negative opinion on imperialism. Another way he could have enhanced his message about colonialism, is he could have put images of suffering African people under the footprint or he could have shown cracks or Africa shattering.

West africa today
West africa has a very vast range of countries. Some have very strong economies/political parties, but some others have very poor and corrupt economies/political parties. For example Nigeria has a very strong economy and a population of over 130 million people, they also have a pretty strong going political party. But Sierra Leon has a very poor economy and a corrupt political party mainly because they have been in a civil war for years, thus messing up the country. Although some countries have rich economies and political parties and some dont, almost all economies in West Africa have an oil based economy.

West africa current event
This west african news story from Nigeria is mainly about "slave" trafficking infants and kids. About how they did/how its done, and how the police caught them. Also, some stories about the captured people by the group.
This artical is important mainly because it raises awarness about the terrible child trafficking that is going on is Nigeria, and just to tell people that this is happening in africa. Also to inform people that this has been stopped mostly in Nigeria.

West Africa history
West Africa has a very diverse culture, religion, people, language, clothing, family and way of building homes. For example in west africa the religions vary from Anism to Christianity and Islam. Also, there cultures reflect influences like from traditional African, European, culture and Islamic. Clothing families and homes, because of influence such as religion and climate. People and language, because it depends on what type of ethnic group your in (Hausa, fauni, yoruba, and Igbo).
Europeans had a big effect on west africa by colonizing and politically re-layed out the region of Africa, the west africans were not happy about this.

The Scramble Of Africa
My group tried to take over the places that had natural resources such as rivers, and also places other groups wanted so they would trade us for better land that we wanted. I think we won, because we did all the things that were are tasks on our card and claimed almost the most land on the map. I think spain lost, mainly because they had a big disadvantage of only rolling three dice, and out of these dice two fell of the table. Also, they didn't take over that much land,

This story about west africa in ghana is very important, because it shows that lots of people want a peaceful election in ghana, and it show that the people are concerned about it. Also, it informs the reader that people want a peaceful election, but most importantly the election is coming up soon.

west africa paragraph
I think this news story is definately news worthy especially for soccer lovers. this news story is important, because soccer is the national sport of most of west Africa, and Samuel Eto'o is one of the best players from west Africa. Also this is news worthy, because it informs who one the game and who scored. As you can see, this news story is very important.

south west africa
West Africa has a pretty important physical geography. it consists of two main physical features, the Niger River and many plains and high lands. West Africa has very distinct climate and vegetation zones. They vary from arid in the north to tropical in the south. Also, west Africa has great minerals and natural resources which may one day help the economies in the region.

to be a slave
I would believe that this book, "to be a slave" is trust worthy because it has excerpts from former slaves. Also, the author was really into the civil rights movement, so he must have lots of relevant facts. Finally the book has been published, publishers would not publish a book that had incorrect information.

does violence turn to more violence
I would say most of the time violence turns to more violence. For example, after Julius Caesar gets killed a civil war starts. As you can see a simple killing of one man could resort in a war where thousand of men die. I also think that violence could turn to peace. For example in world war 2 by defeating Hitler, most of Europe was at peace.

for the good of rome
If i were Brutus i would probably side with the good of rome over the friendship of Julius Ceaser. i think this because its either one person gets effected, (Julius Ceaser) or all of the people in rome get effected by Julius ceacer's leadership. For example, on page 49 brutus expresses his thoughts on how julius ceaser would effect rome. Also, Julius Ceaser could mis use his power and use the military to gain even more power. For example, people talk about how ceaser is not trust worthy and might abuse his power.

Grade update
My first goal was to talk less in class and i think i have done a good job with that, but occasionally i will accidentally forget. My second goal was to get an A in AR, and i did get an A in AR so i have achieved that goal. as you can see i have pretty much accomplished my goals for quarter one!
Three new goals for quarter two would be to prepare for Socratic seminars, because in the past i have not prepared for them very well, so i haven't gotten good grades for them. my second goal for quarter two is to get another A in AR because that really helps my grade. my third goal is to study a little over the course of the week, not just the night before, i think this would really help my test grades. ;)

Political cartoon
- I think the main visual elements of this cartoon are the fat capitalist man and the little laborer, because they are the center of attention. What the polotical cartoon is about is, that in capitalism there are really rich and greedy people represented by the fat man. Also there are extremely poor and starving laborers that are taken advantage over by the rich people, represented by the small guy getting robbed by the fat capitalist man. I think the cartoonists view of capitalism is pretty bad because he clearly shows that the little laborers have no power and that the rich business men take complete advantage over them. The cartoonist could have added a bit more about how terrible the laborers life is and how little money he makes.

Buy low sell high
The investment tip "buy low sell high" means that in the stock market you should buy the stock when it doesn,t cost that much money, and wait to sell it when the stock price gets a lot higher. This tip is very important, because if you correctly do this you can make a big profit.

The Net Effect

The positives are that lots of people got employed at the factory's, there was a lot faster production of the commodities, people moved around more and there was a lot more use of technology.
The negatives are that a lot of farmers lost their jobs, people were getting sick, and the pollution was terrible. Also, people got kicked off

Game day 2
On the second day we chose the best product out of all the products the class made, and we chose a pig made by Nikaya. Then we were told to make as many pigs as we could together working in a group. we made an essembly line of peple with specialized jobs, like cutters, gluers, colorers etc... in the beginning the production was very slow but then, the production of pigs was really fast. Over all we made lots more pigs than one person could by them self. But they were not nearly as good quality as the first pig that was specially made by Nikaya.

Game day1
When we made our gifts from a piece of paper it took a fairly long time to make but it was pretty good quality. It was kind of like i was a craftsman, that made a specialized one of a kind product.

Rollercoaster
Rollercoaster
Kudunk, kudunk, kudunk, we slowly went up the track, I grasped the cold metal bar in front of me, getting ready to start the huge drop . Everything went quite the second we were at the edge… the screams began as the cart started to tip and my neck snapped back as we went flying down the 80 degree drop. The crisp wind was whipping by my face so fast it burned, and my stomach felt as If it was going to flip inside out. All I could here was the dramatic screaming of most girls and a couple of teenagers shouting, “No hands”. As we finished the drop half of the people were cheering for more but the other half looked like they were going to be sick.

mother necessities
What does the phrase, “necessities are the mother of invention” mean? Please include at least three good examples to support your thinking.
I think that this phrase means that if there’s a need then somebody will invent it. For example, there was a need to make cotton faster, so somebody invented the cotton gin. Another example was the telephone. There was a need to talk to people faster than going over to each others house, so the telephone was invented so people could communicate a lot faster. Also, it took a long time to make clothing, because it was being sewed by hand, so Elias invented a sewing machine that could make the product a lot faster.

How I Learn Best
What kind of learner are you? I learn best kinesthetically, (by working with a partner, or in a group. I don’t learn very well from listening to long lectures. I also learn well if someone shows/gives an example or shows me how to do it first.
What can I do to help you learn most effectively in this class? You can help me by not giving long lectures, and giving good instruction before giving assignments. Also, making learning a fun and enjoyable experience helps me to actually try my best. That sounds funny :)

My Gang
I would consider my friends as my gang.Whos in my gang would be Alex g, Conor, Adi, Sam g, Petr, kris, Sam R, Scott, Dylan, Travis, Aysha, Alice, Sophia, Lily, Michaela, and chloe. i consider them my gang, because they are my good friends and will always be there for me. Also, when I'm upset i can talk with them, and they can talk with me. On weekends we hang out and have fun together. so you can probably see why we are a gang.
