What is power??

As the dictionary says, “Power is a person or thing that possesses or exercises authority or influence”. Power takes many forms, comes from many places, and is measured in many ways.
Almost everything happens with the influence of power; power has caused all the big events in the past such as the industrial revolution, WWI, WWII, the Cold War, imperialism, the Russian revolution and much more.
Without power, many countries wouldn’t have industrialized and made as money, notice how the powerful countries industrialized and how they industrialized first. WWI; all the countries went into the war trying to take over land and gain power, they fought because of power. Again, notice how the leading forces of WWI were the most powerful. Same thing with WWII, Nazi Germany wanted to take over Europe and get lots of power. Germany was close to doing this because they were so powerful. The cold war was between the powerful countries and was caused and escalated by trying to be the most powerful. The outcomes of these wars also relates to power, the powerful countries came out strong and continued to be strong and to be world leaders. Imperialism; this was caused by the most powerful nations taking advantage and taking over the less powerful countries such as Africa. In conclusion, power is a big factor that can influence great decisions.

PoP reflection

From the population project I learned many things. First of all I learned a lot about my topic, (wealth and family planning use). Second, I learned how to conduct an interview and take good notes. Finally I learned how to write a data analysis. From the population project I learned a lot that will help me in the future. For example, if I need to conduct and interview for data in the future I will know how. Also in the future knowing how to write a good data analysis will help me.

globaization net effects

I think the net effect of globalization has both a positive and negative effect on the world today.
I think globalization has a positive effect on the world, because it allows more jobs for countries such as India and china. Secondly, globalization spreads cultures and foreign ideas. For example, American restaurants such as McDonalds are introduced in India, the Indians like it because it has good food and the company McDonalds enjoys this because this brings in more money. Finally globalization has a positive effect on the world, because it allows all the countries to communicate and work together easier. As you can see, globalization has a positive effect on the world, and allows countries to unite.
Also I think globalization is leaving negative effect on the world today for many reasons. My first reason is jobs are lost due to outsourcing, and off shoring. This leaves people homeless and without a job especially in America. My second reason that globalization can be bad, is that the poor just get left behind and get poorer. My last reason why globalization is bad is lots of cultures get ruined. For example, now in India not many people still wear the traditional clothing. People are now wearing western clothing.

Cartoon Analysis

1. The main visual elements in this cartoon are the two parents and the kid.
2. This cartoon is about how people are using technology for everything
3. I think that the cartoonist thinks that kids don't tell their parents enough about school, and that now you can find almost everything using technology.
4. I can infer that the cartoonist feels this way, because instead of the son just talking the the father, the father could go online.
5. I'm doing the same thing as the little kid is doing
6. It relates, because in our future there will be even more use of technology
7. The people could be using some sort of technology.

Technology

Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means. I would say the top 5 most important technologies are phones, computers, cars, electricity and airplanes. I think these because without these technologies life would be much harder. I think the least important technologies are i pods, lawn mowers, toasters, TV's and blow dryers. I believe that these are the least important, because these technologies are not serving a great need. AES has the correct technology which really helps the students get there work done efficiently. In conclusion technology can help greatly or it can serve almost no point.

Kurt Vonnegut

Even though I do love the damn fool computer, i agree with Kurt Vonnegut.I strongly agree that we the people should be doing the becoming, not the technology doing the becoming. I also agree with Kurt Vonnegut's story, "Harrison Bergeron" because I do think that if people take being equal to the extreme, the world could turn the way it did in the book. Also, I agree that computers can "brainwash" you like in "Euphio". I agree because some people get really interested in them, and always use them. Over all agree with Kurt Vonnegut, but i love computers- i am a hypocrite.

Victory

We set our tactics
They set their guard
We mustered our strength, and prepared to enter “no mans land”
They began with a blitz
We met their assault, with our own barrage
They mobilized their forces
We defended against their raid, and exploited their weakness
Their guard fell
We pierced their shield and victory was ours…
…we are the soccer champions!

Goal Update

My last quarters goals were get an A in AR because that really helps my grade, to prepare better for Socratic seminars, and to talk less in class because i need to be more respectful to my teachers and my peers.
I think I completed these goals pretty well, i got an A+ in AR. Also, i got much better grades on my Socratic seminars because I prepared. My last goal was to talk less in class, i think i improved that but I can still do better in the future.
For fourth quarter i would again like to talk less in class. Also, i would like to finish my population project before it is due, (not at the last minute) and i would like to try and study more for test through out the whole week,(not just study the night before).

Oxymoron

Holy war is just as much as an oxymoron as jumbo shrimp. I think this because being holy is generally peaceful and sacred, and war is definitely not sacred or peaceful. There are so many holy wars, because people think that god wants them to fight, or that they are fighting for god. Holy wars are mostly fought because of religious conflicts and disagreements. I still do not find this a reasonable excuse to fight. I think everyone should have their own opinion and shouldn’t have fight about it.

will there be a ww3 in my life time?

I think there will not be a WW3 in my lifetime. I think this because there have already been two world wars and people know what they are like. Most of these people know how terrible war is and would defiantly not want to get in to another one, many people die in these wars and for most countries war messes up the economy and overall leaves the country in ruins. For example, after WW2 almost all countries in Europe were destroyed in bad shape.
My second reason why there will not be a WW3 is that war has developed. When I say developed I mean weapons of mass destruction have been made, and if many atomic bombs are used it would definitely destroy the world and nobody wants that to happen. War has become much faster and takes less time to eliminate entire countries (especially with these big bombs that are being discovered). In conclusion, I think there will not be a WW3 in my lifetime, because people understand how terrible war is and war has “developed” into something

Question:

The question I will be answering is, “Would our understanding of the Holocaust be quite the same if Anne Frank had not taken a small plaid diary into hiding with her?” I would have to say yes and no. yes it does, because with her writing it shows what it was like in person and the emotions of a Jewish girl in hiding. It’s better than just an outsider’s view of guessing what it would have been like. Also she tells about how a lot of Jewish families went through in order to hide from the German soldiers. I would say no, because there was other evidence about how the holocaust was, and she didn’t say that much about what the German soldiers would do to her. Over all, she did shared a significant amount of information about the holocaust but with, or without the diary the understanding would be about the same.

letter of ww2

147 Einshvine Lane Poland town 12345
August 1st, 1939

Dear Sarah,
The German troops are not being as cooperative as they said in the beginning of the war. Today they took my boots and my good jacket and in return they gave me old clothes from dead soldiers. Also, the German soldiers get a lot more food including vodka. All the Italian soldiers get is a piece of brot, potatoes and wurst. Recently they have been killing many of my fellow Italian soldiers because they asked for as many rights as the Germans. Finally they have been talking many Italian boys as soldiers and forced workers. I’m beginning to get worried they are going to break the treaty and invade Italy. I am very scared and don’t know If I can go on any longer. They work us very hard.
A week ago we invaded Poland with about 1.8 million troops using blitzkrieg. I was in the panzer division to finish off anything that lived. We had to go through every settlement and burn it down because they support the Soviets. Also in the settlements we had to send all the Jews to concentration camps where they would kill all young children, elderly people, and adults with children. They keep the fit adults to work. We also sent most teenage boys to work camps to build ports and air bases. I don’t like having to kill innocent people, especially the women and children. Even though Britain and France had declared war on Germany on September 3rd the Poles received no help. I’m also afraid that the allied forces are going to attack from the west, while the poles hold a defensive campaign. The poles are very weak and the axis powers are easily taking over Poland (the pole’s Calvary is nothing compared to the Germans tanks. Lately I have been thinking about running away, that would almost guarantee death.
I miss you and all the family so much, I hope the farm is doing okay without me. I will try and come home soon after the axis powers win the war.
Sincerely, Domenico Musso

A Recipe for World War Two

•First add three tablespoons of an unjust Versailles treaty and a failed league of nations

•Then, heat up some angry Germans in a small pan until their economy crashes into desperation

•Quickly mix together communism and fascism until it catches on fire

•Then, sauté France and great Britain appeasing Hitler until they realized he was a liar

•After, grill Germany Japan and Italy forming the axis of power

•Finally, bake Nazi Germany’s continuing aggression towards the Jews…

If you follow these steps, your result will be World War Two!

animal farm comparison

I definatly liked the animal farm book alot more than the animal farm movie.i liked the book more, mainly because it was alot more descriptive and convincing. i thought the movie was very poorly made for many reasons, such as how the anials spoke and all the sound effects. Also it would have been better if it also showed the other commandments being broken (into more depth, not just showing the pigs with cloths on). The movie could have also followd the story line a little more exactly.
As i observed from the movie, some things were different. for example, boxer did not get hurt because a boulder fell on him, also after the animals looked into the window at the end they did not attack the humans/pigs. As you can see i liked the animal farm book much more, and the movie was not exactly alike to the book.

my character

In animal farm i am least like Benjamin. Firstly because i am not very old, also because he is kind of passive and doesn't get involved, but i do get involved with problem (I stand for what I think). I am not like him because he is very wise and I am not very wise. Finally i am not very critical, and he criticizes a lot of things.

animal farm

I think the book animal farm compares to injustice because the pigs are getting all the milk and the good apples, and no other animal gets the milk or apples. Animal farm also compares to self determination because all the animals are self determined to run the farm, and to keep the farmers away. Finally the book compares to tyranny because the farmer was being tyrannical when he was making the animals work and taking their products. For example he would take the cow’s milk and the hen’s eggs.

Would I go to War?

i would only join the army if the US was in a war and needed help. but i would probably not enter a war such as the Iraqi war where we the Americans have messed it up.
i would join the army because it is very patriotic to my country and is a very honorable job. Also, i would get paid or the army could pay for my college. finally i would join the army because you would learn discipline and life skills for the future references. in conclusion i would probably join the army if the US was in a big war, because there are many things that can be gained.

cartoon feedback

The main visual elements are all of the people from different countries. This cartoon is about all the people in WW1 making alliances. I think the cartoonist is saying that there are to many alliances being made, and some countries such as the Uk and Austrial Hungry are making so many alliances. I think he is trying to make this point by showing some countries shake with 4 arms and their feet as well. The cartoonist could have made this cartoon more persuavsive by having a caption about the cartoon underneath. This cartoon relates to the Great Powers game because so many people made alliances in the game, just like this cartoon.

Game

I was the U.K. i thougt it was alot of fun to build my own empire. The U.S. and the U.K. had the most advantages, they had the most money to begin with and more armys, navys, industries and colonies. Our empire was always was nearly always the strongest and people were afraid.
In the long run building industries was more important, because you coluld double those every round and with that money you could buy lots of other things and in bigger quantities. I did well organizing my master plan with aysha and keeping my empire really strong. I would have attacked italy in the end, because if I did that germany would have helped me and after we defeated them I could have easily killed germany.
My alliances were trustworthy and helped me...until i killed them.
Threee things I learned was to never trust anyone, have no mercy, and to think out what you are doing before you do it.

Goal Update

My goals for last quarter were to prepare better for socratic seminars, get an A in AR, and to study more over the course of the week. i think i have done a good job on doing better with these 3 things. I did get an A in ar and i did study more which helped me with my test grades. my other goal about the socratic seminars was not measureable because we had none.
my new goals for this quarter are to get an A in AR because that really helps my grades, to prepare better for socratic seminars, and to talk less in class because i need to be more respectful to my teachers and my peers.
